Frequently Asked Questions
What is biokinetics?
Biokinetics is a healthcare profession that uses evidence-based exercise therapy to improve movement, restore function, assist with rehabilitation, and promote overall health and well-being.
What is the difference between a Physiotherapist and a Biokineticist?
Physiotherapists and biokineticists are both healthcare professionals, but they have different roles in patient care.
A physiotherapist focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute injuries, pain, and physical conditions using a range of techniques such as manual therapy, electrotherapy, and therapeutic exercise.
A biokineticist specialises in exercise therapy and rehabilitation. Following injury, surgery, or the management of a chronic condition, a biokineticist designs and supervises an individualised exercise programme to restore movement, improve strength and function, reduce the risk of future injury, and support long-term health.
These professions often work together to provide comprehensive patient care. Depending on your needs, you may benefit from seeing a physiotherapist, a biokineticist, or both as part of your rehabilitation journey.
